In many storage tanks, temperature distribution is not always consistent throughout the full tank volume. Localized colder zones may continue developing near tank walls, stagnant regions, dead zones, low-circulation areas, and sections away from the primary heat source. Even when temperature readings appear acceptable at one location, hidden high-viscosity regions may still affect transfer performance and circulation stability.

As oil temperature decreases, viscosity increases rapidly. This can increase pumping resistance, slow circulation, interrupt transfer operations, and increase dependency on repeated reheating cycles using diesel boilers or electrical heating systems.
