Thermal instability inside large palm oil storage tanks can create significant operational challenges across circulation, transfer, and storage activities. Even when displayed temperatures appear acceptable, hidden colder regions may continue developing inside the tank due to uneven heat distribution, stagnant flow areas, structural heat loss, and inconsistent circulation conditions.
As oil temperature decreases, viscosity increases rapidly. These higher-viscosity regions can restrict flow performance, reduce circulation efficiency, increase pumping resistance, and affect transfer readiness during loading and unloading operations.
In many facilities, operators compensate by increasing reheating cycles through diesel boilers or electrical heating systems to recover pumpability and restore operational conditions. This repeated reheating dependency can significantly increase thermal energy consumption, operating cost, and overall infrastructure load across storage operations.
Thermal instability may also contribute to:
TFA addresses these challenges through a solar thermal integrated thermal management approach designed to support more stable thermal conditions, improved circulation performance, continuous pumpability, and reduced reheating dependency across palm oil storage infrastructure.
By integrating solar thermal support with existing heating infrastructure, TFA helps reduce thermal recovery demand while supporting more operationally reliable and energy-efficient storage and transfer operations.
